Miura Boilers: Must Safety Hazards Be Inspected When Operating Boilers?
Release Date:

If we are operating a Miura boiler, any identified defects or hazardous conditions must be immediately addressed and thoroughly inspected. Otherwise, should a safety incident occur, the resulting adverse consequences could be extremely severe. So, what specific safety risks should we eliminate?
1. Security Risks of the Operation and Ignition System Software
1) Internal leakage in the burner: If there is a leak inside the burner valve, the burner’s built-in leak detection system will be ineffective, or the burner may not be equipped with such a system at all. In this case, flammable gas can enter the furnace, and ignition will immediately trigger a furnace explosion. This is one of the key causes of the Miura boiler explosion.
2) Insufficient ignition: Poor operation of the burner’s air-fuel ratio can prevent natural gas from igniting, leading to the formation of carbon monoxide (CO) in the flue gases and potentially causing CO poisoning in the boiler room clinic.
3) Dry firing: If the low-water-level alarm and the ultra-low-water-level lockout protection fail, the boiler can easily become dry. Without prompt emergency measures, improper power supply may lead to a boiler explosion.
2. Natural gas pipeline leakage or flue gas duct leakage in the Miura boiler room, leading to poisoning or explosion.
3. The safety risks associated with the safety accessories of the Miura boiler include valves, thermometers, pressure gauges, smart water meters, and other such devices. Failure to perform scheduled maintenance as required or to conduct timely blowdown tests can render these safety accessories and instrumentation ineffective.
4. Miura boilers shall be operated at their rated working pressure. Overpressure operation of a boiler at its rated working pressure will inevitably cause damage to the boiler itself and may even pose safety risks to operators of Miura boilers.
