Precautions for Installing a Gas Boiler

After purchasing a gas-fired boiler, users also face challenges related to transportation and installation. Ensuring the boiler is installed correctly and operates reliably is a primary concern for many customers. Drawing on years of experience in boiler installation, Zhongjie Special Installation has compiled the following key considerations, with the aim of helping more users understand the proper procedures for installing a gas-fired boiler.

1. Gas-fired boilers shall not be installed in bedrooms or rooms that are directly connected to bedrooms, nor in basements with inadequate ventilation.

2. To ensure safety and stability, users must engage a qualified professional installation company that is authorized to install gas-fired boilers.

3. The 220V power supply for the gas boiler must be connected to a reliable grounding conductor to ensure safe operation.

4. The connection between the gas pipeline and the gas burner must use a gas-specific pipeline.

5. After the gas piping has been installed, open the gas valve and use soapy water to check all connections for leaks. If a leak is detected, close the valve, repair or replace the sealing components, and then re-inspect the gas-fired boiler until no leaks remain.

6. Boiler installation must be level and properly planned, with piping kept as short, few in number, and of large diameter as possible—i.e., minimize pipe length, reduce the number of bends, and use larger-diameter pipes. In addition, the main return pipe should have the same diameter as the gas boiler’s outlet and return connections.

7. The main supply and return pipelines of the natural circulation water system shall have a slope of 3–5%. Air vents shall be installed at the highest point of the system, and no valves shall be installed on them.

8. The drain valve shall be installed at the lowest point of the system, and the bottom of the make-up water tank shall be positioned higher than the supply pipe. The automatic air vent shall not be replaced with a vent opening, and the valve shall not be installed or blocked.

9. During installation, the flue must extend outdoors and be inclined downward at a 5° angle to prevent condensate from flowing back and causing corrosion of the furnace body. Flammable materials must not be placed around the flue.
