Boilers are widely used across various industries, playing a vital role in food production, apparel manufacturing, housing, and transportation. As high-temperature, high-pressure thermal-energy equipment, pressure gas-fired boilers are classified as specialized machinery and are extensively employed. However, if proper precautions are not observed or if operational errors occur, equipment damage and serious consequences can easily result. Many users have questions about the correct procedures for operating pressure gas-fired boilers; Zhongjie has specially compiled answers to address these concerns.
I. The boiler shall not be overpressure.
Since the allowable pressure for a pressurized gas-fired boiler is determined in advance through precise calculations, the boiler must not be operated beyond its specified pressure limits. Moreover, boilers operating at different pressures require varying wall thicknesses and inspection standards; failure to strictly adhere to these regulations can result in severe consequences if the boiler is subjected to overpressure.
II. Strictly Adhere to Boiler Operating Procedures
Based on the level of pressure, gas-fired boilers are classified into high-pressure boilers and pressure boilers, and there are certain differences between the two. The key distinction is that the manufacturing quality standards and inspection methods applicable to atmospheric-pressure boilers are not suitable for pressure boilers; atmospheric-pressure boilers are directly connected to the atmosphere and always operate at zero pressure. Therefore, a pressure gas-fired boiler must not be converted into an atmospheric-pressure boiler, as such a conversion could lead to serious consequences.
III. Boiler Safety Accessories Are Indispensable
Pressure-rated gas-fired boilers are equipped not only with safety accessories such as water level gauges, pressure gauges, and safety valves, but also with water level alarms and overpressure alarms. These accessories and devices serve as the “communication channel” between the pressurized boiler and its operators; therefore, safety accessories are indispensable for gas-fired boilers. They enable operators to promptly and accurately detect abnormal operating conditions, thereby ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the boiler and preventing serious incidents such as equipment explosions. Daily routine cleaning of the water level gauge is essential to prevent blockage, while pressure gauges and safety valves should be inspected on schedule, and regular venting tests conducted.
