The days when heating relied solely on radiators in the north and fans in the south are gradually fading. Even in regions without central heating, wall-mounted gas boilers offer a convenient, flexible, healthy, and comfortable heating solution, making them an ideal choice for many households. As a result, more and more people are opting for gas-fired wall-mounted boilers in areas without centralized heating. These boilers are sophisticated, integrated systems that combine water and electricity, so safety is of paramount importance. Today, Brother Song will share some essential safety tips and energy-saving practices for using wall-mounted boilers, ensuring you enjoy a warm and comfortable home during the upcoming colder months. 1. Always use the type of gas specified on the product’s nameplate (natural gas, town gas, liquefied petroleum gas, biogas, etc.); do not use any other type indiscriminately. 2. Wall-mounted boilers should be installed in the kitchen or a closed balcony, but never in the bathroom or bedroom. 3. When ambient temperatures may drop below freezing, the boiler must remain powered. In standby mode, as long as the gas supply is unobstructed, the main circulation piping is clear, and the heating system maintains normal water pressure, the boiler’s freeze-protection feature and the pump’s anti-interference protection will activate. If any of these conditions are not met—whether due to frozen pipes, blocked circulation, or insufficient water pressure—the boiler, piping, and radiators could freeze and suffer damage, potentially leading to safety hazards. During winter, if there are prolonged power outages or extended periods of absence from home when temperatures are likely to fall below freezing, it is crucial to drain the heating system to prevent ice-related damage. 4. When topping up the system pressure to 1.0–1.5 bar, be sure to close the make-up valve; otherwise, the overpressure safety valve will continuously leak, possibly saturating indoor furnishings with moisture. If the pressure becomes too high during topping up, excess water can be released through the radiator’s drain or air-vent valves. During operation, the pressure in a wall-mounted boiler will naturally rise due to thermal expansion of the water—a normal phenomenon. Most wall-mounted boilers are equipped with overpressure protection and pressure-relief devices; when system pressure exceeds the safe limit, the boiler will alert the user to reduce the pressure. Improper installation of the flue system can lead to backdrafting and incomplete combustion, which in turn can cause oxygen deficiency indoors and adversely affect users’ health. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to use the original flue design when installing a wall-mounted boiler and to avoid arbitrarily altering the flue’s location. If relocation or modification is necessary, always consult a qualified technician for on-site service. Most residential wall-mounted boilers are installed in the kitchen, where other appliances such as refrigerators, ovens, and induction cooktops are also commonly found. These appliances emit strong electromagnetic radiation. When using such high-radiation equipment, try to maintain a sufficient distance from the wall-mounted boiler to prevent interference with its normal operation.
